McManis staff have co-authored 12 books on healthcare strategy and management.
This sequel to Beyond Managed Care deals with strategies to take advantage of market opportunities. This book identifies and assesses strategies that healthcare organizations should consider as they position themselves for the future.
Beyond Managed Care takes a close look at the changing dynamics of healthcare markets and decision-making. Key factors include rapid changes in information systems capabilities and applications, continuing improvements in medical technology, and in consumer roles in decision-making.
Beginning in 1993, and continuing since, McManis and the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) have tracked the experience of large integrated systems. The 11 case studies conducted in late 1999 and early 2000 are a continuation of this long-term research effort. The case studies include sections on the market served and competition, vision, culture, governance and leadership, primary care and geographic coverage, information technology, quality of care, finances, lessons learned, and issues for the future. The results are described in the two volume series, The Changing Dynamics of Integrated Healthcare: Case Studies of Market Leaders, published by the Medical Group Management Association (MGMA).
